Install SnipLoop

Microsoft Edge

One click

  1. Open SnipLoop on Edge Add-ons.
  2. Click Get, then Add extension.
  3. A welcome page opens and walks you through the rest.
Chrome, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi, Arc

Coming to the Chrome Web Store

SnipLoop is in review at the Chrome Web Store. When it's live, the button on our home page takes you straight there. Brave, Vivaldi and Arc install from the Chrome Web Store too. Opera needs its free "Install Chrome Extensions" add-on first.

Works on Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS. It does not work in Firefox or Safari yet.

Keep it one click away (pin it)

Pinning puts the SnipLoop icon next to your address bar, so you can always bring the controls back, even if you close them and forget the shortcut. SnipLoop reminds you if it isn't pinned yet.

Edge
  1. Click the puzzle-piece icon (Extensions) at the top right.
  2. Click the eye icon next to SnipLoop ("Show in toolbar").
Chrome, Brave, others
  1. Click the puzzle-piece icon at the top right.
  2. Click the pin next to SnipLoop.

Use it in Incognito / InPrivate windows

Browsers turn every extension off in private windows until you switch it on. That's a browser safety rule: no extension, including SnipLoop, is allowed to turn it on by itself. So we made it one click: open SnipLoop from the toolbar and tap Turn it on, and it takes you to the right switch.

Edge
  1. Go to edge://extensions.
  2. Under SnipLoop, click Details.
  3. Turn on Allow in InPrivate.
Chrome
  1. Go to chrome://extensions.
  2. Under SnipLoop, click Details.
  3. Turn on Allow in Incognito.
Brave: brave://extensions → Details → Allow in Private. Opera: opera://extensions → Allow in Incognito. Then open a new private window, because windows that were already open don't pick up the change.

How to loop

  1. Hover over any video. The SnipLoop controls appear just above the video's timeline.
  2. Tap ● Start loop here when the good part begins, and ■ End loop here when it ends. It plays on repeat until you tap Stop loop.
  3. Missed it? Tap Replay last 5s / 10s / 20s to loop what just happened.
  4. Fine-tune with the ◀ ▶ arrows (half a second at a time) or drag the A and B handles on the timeline.
  5. Tap 1× to slow it to 0.75× or 0.5× (Pro). The pitch stays natural.
  6. Tap ★ to save a loop. Open it later from the toolbar icon and it starts looping that exact part.
Shortcuts

Alt+Shift+A start loop here
Alt+Shift+B end loop here (no start yet = replay last 10s)
Alt+Shift+L show / hide the controls

Change them

Go to edge://extensions/shortcuts or chrome://extensions/shortcuts, or click Change shortcuts at the bottom of the SnipLoop panel. Your current shortcuts are always listed there.

Questions

I closed the controls. How do I get them back?

Press Alt+Shift+L, or click the SnipLoop icon in your toolbar and tap Show controls. The next video you open also brings back the small SnipLoop icon. Tip: pin SnipLoop (see above) so the toolbar icon is always visible. Your loop keeps running while the controls are hidden.

What's the difference between − and ✕?

− shrinks SnipLoop to a small icon on the video. Hover it for a Start / End / Stop button, or click it to open the full controls. ✕ hides SnipLoop on this video completely; on the next video it comes back as the small icon.

The controls don't show up on a video.

First, move your mouse over the video, because the controls fade when you're not using them. Then check that SnipLoop is switched On in its toolbar panel. On very small videos the controls stay hidden; press Alt+Shift+L or tap Show controls in the panel to bring them up anyway. If the page was open before you installed SnipLoop, refresh it once.

It doesn't work in a private window.

Browsers keep extensions off in private windows until you allow it. See "Use it in Incognito / InPrivate windows" above. It takes about ten seconds, and SnipLoop's panel has a button that takes you straight to the switch.

Which sites does it work on?

YouTube and most sites with a standard web video player: course sites, news, sports highlights, social video and more. Some copy-protected streaming services may limit what any extension can do. Clip export (⬇) is turned off on YouTube and on copy-protected services.

My shortcut does nothing.

Another app or extension may already be using that key combination. Open the SnipLoop panel: the bottom line shows your current shortcuts. If one says "not set", click Change shortcuts and pick a new one.

Where are my favorites saved? Do they sync?

Favorites are saved in your own browser on this computer. They don't sync to other computers, and we never see them. Copy a loop's link (🔗) to send it to someone or open it on another device.

What do I get with Pro?

Loops of any length (free loops are up to 30 seconds), unlimited favorites (free is 5), slow-down to 0.75× and 0.5× with natural pitch, and encrypted private favorites for private windows. Pro is $7.99 once, with no subscription. Try it free for 7 days, no card needed: open the SnipLoop panel and tap Start free trial.

I bought Pro. How do I use it on another computer?

Install SnipLoop there, open its panel and tap "Already bought?". Log in with the email you bought with and Pro unlocks.

How do private favorites work?

In a private window, SnipLoop Pro keeps a separate vault that's locked with a password you choose. Save a loop with ★, or save the whole page with "Save this page privately". Everything is encrypted on your computer (AES-256), only appears in private windows, and locks itself when you close your last private window.

I forgot my private vault password.

No one can recover it, including us; that's what keeps it private. You can erase the vault from the SnipLoop panel in a private window and set a new password.

Does SnipLoop track me?

No. There is no viewing history, no analytics and no ad trackers in the extension. If you start a trial or buy Pro, only your email and purchase are recorded, by our payment provider. Details are in the privacy policy.

How do I turn it off or remove it?

To pause it everywhere, open the SnipLoop panel and flip the On switch to Off. To remove it, right-click the SnipLoop icon and choose Remove from Microsoft Edge (or Remove from Chrome).

Still stuck?

Email [email protected] with your browser (Edge, Chrome…) and the site you were on. A screenshot helps a lot.
